Fishes of Arkansas
Published in Hardcover by Univ of Arkansas Pr (December, 1988)
Average review score:

Incredible Diversity Documented with Beautiful PicturesEven as the Clinton presidency draws to a close, Arkansas remains the undiscovered state. Fishes of Arkansas is a visual treat--a species by species documentation of the incredible diversity of freshwater fish found in that state's streams and waterways. Arkansas is an inland state, so one might imagine that a fish survey would document only a narrow array of green and brown game fish, of little interest to those outside the bait and hook hobbies. Fishes of Arkansas demonstrates instead the incredible biodiversity found in the numerous fish species located in Arkansas. Here are pictures of gorgeous fish, large and small, including many of intense beauty and tremendous color. The darter section of the book, featuring many species endemic not only to Arkansas but in many cases to a single river in Arkansas, shows the reader spectacular, unforgettable fish. The narrative is simple and straightforward--each entry is a separate species, usually with a picture. The grouping is organized by family, and the authors provide judicious use of light explanatory and summation material to tie the individual entries together. If you need something on your coffee table or shelves which is light, pleasant picture-filled reading but not fluff, try Fishes of Arkansas.

Great History of our Pioneer Ancestors in mid 1800's ARI thought this book was very thoroughly researched. He made them come to life. WE think our lives are hard, those folks are tough as NAILS!! I had ancestors in Pope Co AR during that time so it was real personal for me to know how things were then and Mr. Boyette took me there. I thank him so much for writing it. I would highly recommend this book.

The History of CRAIGHEAD COUNTY ArkansasThis is an excellent book for geneology buffs that was written by a Craighead County native and copyrighted in 1930. It covers the time period before Arkansas was a state and includes sections of Craighead County history that include the people who settled and developed this county up until the time that he wrote the book.
This book also contains chapters of information about the growth of the county and about towns and villages, cemeteries, churches, schools, civil and world wars plus many other informing and amusing stories about Craighead County.
It is an excellent source of information for historians and people searching their ancestry. It also includes a "Who's Who" section of prominent citizens and also has an excellent index that was added in 1977 that allows for easier research of names.

A Journey Through Arkansas Historic U.S. Highway 67 (Images of America)

Great Pictorial HistoryAs a fairly new postcard collector and a lifelong resident of southwest Arkansas, I found this book to be an excellent pictorial history of the first half of 1900 along Highway 67. I recommend this book not only to postcard collectors but the public that lived and traveled this stretch of highway. Wonderful narration of the postcards and historical bits of information.

Harington's greatestSince reading this book years ago in college, I have bought dozens of copies to give to friends, and teach it now myself . It is a wonderful, fun and easy to read story that also plays intricately with the standards of literature, storytelling and relationships.
The trucker Jeb Nubey stops nearby and the kids sneak into his truck. When the law stops him, the children pretend to be his family. Already on the lam for an alleged attempted murder in Texarkana, Jeb takes the children to their adult sibling only to find her home deserted. Jeb soon pretends to be a widowed preacher raising the trio by himself. However, it is Angel who tries to turn this pretend quartet into a real family.
This is an entertaining historical fiction that paints a disturbing picture of the Depression via the treatment of the three Welby children by family and others. Still through the actions of Angel, forced into maturity beyond her years, hope exists even for this downtrodden group. The characters make the tale as the FALLEN ANGELS will hook readers with their plight.
